Isolde is currently Guest Editor of a monograph on the work of photographer Zwelethu Mthethwa (forthcoming, 2009) and recently collaborated with artist Wangechi Mutu on her first monograph, A Shady Promise (2008). She has also been sought out by well-known institutions and fine art publications, as a lecturer and critic, including: PARKETT Series with Contemporary Artists; Aperture Magazine; Phaidon Press; Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles; The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; The Brooklyn Art Museum; Museum of Contemporary, Sydney, Australia; The Studio Museum in Harlem; Atlanta College of Art Gallery; Harvard University; Yale University; and, Howard University.
TEACHING
Isolde Brielmaier is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Vassar College and a Guest Professor at Barnard College/Columbia University and New York University. Her teaching style aims to cultivate critical thinkers who are versed in classroom settings, public forums and pop culture discourse. Guest speakers in her courses have included: fashion photographer David LaChapelle, writer Knox Robinson, artist Hank Willis Thomas, photographer Andrew Dosunmu, and curators Trevor Schoonmaker and Franklin Sirmans.
